YOU

Let me introduce yourself to...YOU.

Let me introduce yourself to...YOU.

Let’s talk about a person you know very well (or you may not know as well as you think)…

YOU

I want you to do something. I want you to go to the bathroom and look in the mirror for 10 minutes and look deep into your eyes.

What do you feel?

What do you see?

And most of all, what does that inner voice inside of you say? Is it negative? If so challenge it. Silence it. Just stare, and be aware.

Isn’t it weird to look at yourself, mindfully, at YOU the human being? To see all the age marks, the wrinkles around your eyes, and the deep essence in your eyes that is looking back at you?

Learn to shift your thinking and become fully aware about just how AWESOME YOU are!

There is no one like you and NEVER will be.

Try looking at yourself not as YOU, but as a person who you love and have compassion for. Make a shift into this kind of thinking as you look at that person in the mirror.

There are many many reasons why you are an amazing person. Just the fact you are alive and reading this right now is proof of it.

Here are a few more things you may want to ponder about the wonderful YOU…

  • YOU are unique. You are the most unique thing in this world and no one is like you. Your fingerprints prove this and so do your looks, your charm, your talents, and the way you walk and talk.
  • YOU were created out of nothing and into…something. What you can become, is up to you. You are in a constant of creation, and decline. Since your life came from nothing, so can the life that comes out of you. At one point you were ONE SINGLE CELL for nearly half an hour before you evolved and grew.
  • YOU are dying in every moment, and changing as well. Cells die, organs are getting replaced, yet deep within you, there is the real you. You ARE change. Every year 98% of the atoms in your body are replaced!
  • YOU are a mere speck in the entire universe. Yet your energy can move the universe and the world around you. You have the power. Even though you may be “small” in the big picture of the entire universe, you are still big because you can make small actions to create big changes in humanity.
  • YOU are not your thoughts. Your thoughts are thoughts. You are you. Learn how to separate the difference and watch your life make a radical shift.
  • YOU have people in your life right now who admire and love you. People that look up to you. People that have passed you by on the street and you caught their eye…but they kept on going. But in that moment, you made an impact in their life.
  • YOU are timeless. You came from “nothing” and you will return to “nothing”…but don’t be discouraged. “Nothing” is just a word, your meaning of nothing is what matters. Nothing can be defined as the entirety of everything.
  • YOU are energy. This is proven. You are the same as a tree, a dog, or an ocean. At the very core of your being is a buzz of billions of atoms at play. So the big question is…WHAT is source of the atom? What makes it run?
  • YOU are creation at it’s very finest. You can breathe, you can feel, you can sing, you can make love, you can create brilliant works or art or play beautiful music. You are from creation, thus you are creation. And everything you do in your waking life is just that…a state of creation projecting from you in everything you do.
  • YOU have no identity. You are like a wisp of air that is unseen. Like a calm warm wind blowing over a vast prairie. You are silence within, not the body outside. The real you is the navigator and “feeler”, the body is merely your transportation or your vehicle.
  • YOU are magical. Your smallest actions can create magical moments in those around you. What you do can affect a child or a million people and change their entire view of life. You can open doors in their minds. You can fill them with magic.
  • YOU are not separate. You are a wave on a vast ocean among all the other waves of people. At the source, you are the same, running on the same fuel, running on the same energy, relying on the same source that we call life.
  • YOU will not die. Your body may die, but energy never dies….and you are just that, pure energy. Energy does not die, it transfers. Where your energy will go is the big question. (Check out On Life After Death, it’s mind blowing!)
  • YOU are never the same. Everyday you wake up, you are not the same as you were the day (or even minute) before. Just like the world around you, you are always evolving and changing. Your ability to change your life never changes. So if today you are having a bad day, know that it will always pass.
  • YOU are love. At the very core of your essence you are love. Love is your gasoline. Life is spark. Every single day you are in the quest to love or be loved. You want to either love your work, love another person or you want to be loved, or you want to be admired and complimented (or recognized). This never ends.
  • YOU are your worst enemy. As they say, “If God loves you, why would you hate yourself?” The essence of the real you is not your worst enemy, it is the voice in your mind…the ego. Kill your ego and your kill your worst enemy.
  • YOU have a purpose. In this world, all of the billions of people move and act in a unique pattern to keep humanity alive. There is a flow. For every short person, there is a tall one. For every artist there is a mathematician. We all fit together like a nice large puzzle, each of has a role and a part. You are already fulfilling your purpose without knowing it.
  • YOU are perfect the way you are. “Perfect”…what does that mean anyway? Is there one book that has all the laws of life that defines “perfect”? No. You are perfect the way you are. If you were meant to be another way, you would be. So you are perfection because you are who you are. Embrace that. Love that. Surrender to it.

Have you ever felt being alive?

By this I mean, have you ever FELT your body and soul “buzzing” with energy?

Here is how you can do it…

Sit still and close your eyes. Close off any distraction around you. Next, take deep breathes and simply allow the awareness of your body to flood your senses. Feel it. In a matter of minutes, you start to feel a slight vibration in the body, the vibration of energy within you. You may notice that some areas may buzz more than others. Sit with this vibration and be with it. Soak in it.

Learn to be still often.

You are a human being, not a human “doing”.

Be aware. Be still. Be yourself.

  1. Hi Dayne, This is so inspired and beautifully put together! You can tell it flowed from somewhere deep within you and it touched that part of me while reading it. I have stood in the mirror before like that, and looked deeply into my own eyes… it’s such a different experience than when we normally look in the mirror. You can see the YOU underneath, the YOU that’s behind your eyes, that emerges and returns to that timeless ocean, the YOU that is always present, that we often don’t realize is there. Thanks for taking the time to put this together to remind us to connect with that.

When I stare in the mirror for too long I get scared.

It’s not because of the big pimple on my face.

It’s because I look through the physicality behind my skin, and it actually gets quite scary because you find the truth.

You start talking to yourself and you realize that if you can remove what you are seeing in the mirror, you are just a soul.

I kind of see everybody in the world as a soul but convered in a unique robotic shell (I’m weird like that), and thus that’s what makes us all the same and different at the same time.

You are you, but you’re also everything at the same time.

  3. Great post. I love the way it was written and the excellent points brought up in it really hit home with me today. I definitely need to work on being still… Not my strongest ability…

Really great reminder! All too often I find myself focusing on the negatives..the things I need to improve about myself. And although this is motivating and keeps me on the path to a better me, it is nice to just look in the mirror and take in the good from time to time. Very therapeutic.

Too often we think of what others think. Really, who cares what they think of us. All we should care about is what we think of ourselves. Great post Dayne

  6. I liked the idea that “YOU were created out of nothing and into…something.” It’s amazing that we all start at the same point. There are external factors that influence our early progress, but in the end it comes down to what I make of myself.

No one else but I can determine that.

    Amazing.

  7. Dayne,
These words are very important for people who are in transition. As you know life change can be the most horrifying and exciting thing to happen to the human spirit. Change is unavoidable, we all opt to procrastinate it and then one day, God shifts and steers our life for us. We find courage, faith, conviction and resources that we never new we were equipped with. You need to keep validating others like this. You’re doing a great job and your work here is genuine. You’re blessing others and you know it’s part of your calling.

  8. Love this! Such a positive way to start my week and it is greatly apprecaited!
Each of us is designed to have everything we need: self reliance, motivation, inspiration, creativity, power. We just have to remember to tap into it!

  10. “You are not your thoughts.”

That was one I struggled with for a long time until I realized that someone had to think the thoughts in the first place. That really helped me put “me” in perspective.

  12. Hi Dayne, this si probably one of the best posts I ever read. There’s a lot of wisdom in these phrases. I specially like:”YOU are dying in every moment, and changing as well.” I know that you want to emphasize the idea of change. Life is change, our body is constantly changing, so we always can change and improve ourselves to our best. But, It’s also true the first part of your statement: We are dying in every moment. I like to remind this every so often because it helps me to gain a perspective on the shortness of life. So, paradoxly, to think about death helps me to live life to the fullest.

Thanks Dayne for sharing this amazing post.

    See you soon :)

  13. It’s cool and scary to imagine that our energy will go on forever through the universe after we die. “When I die, flowers will sprout from my rotten corpse, and that is eternity.” I can’t remember who said that, but it sort of fits in. :)

  15. Hello Dayne. Thank you for the insights and inspirational thoughts. Here’s something about “YOU” to think about. Imagine “YOU” reside in a hidden place of potential at your “center”. “YOU” (and I and everyone else) is meant to come out of that shell and grow in a way that’s unique for us. Now imagine an inhibiting fear of judgment keeps “YOU” from coming out. It acts like a valve, stopping the authentic “YOU” from being set free. What happens if you don’t learn how to remove this fear? Never do you learn who “YOU” are, or what to do with your life. You can certainly do something with your life, by becoming something you’re not meant to be. You can get rich, achieve goals, and get patted on the back by everyone for your efforts. But way down where your heart lives, you’ll know it isn’t “YOU”. At the end of it all you’ll realize you’ve been living a lie. Scary sounding…..but true. Ciao Dayne. John Duffield
