Be my Valentine?
What is Saint Valentine’s Day?
Is Valentine’s Day another Hallmark holiday, or just another retailer’s way to make money or is there really something important to this day?
One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men — his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.
Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where they were often beaten and tortured.
Another legend is Valentine actually sent the first ‘valentine’ greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl — who may have been his jailor’s daughter — who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed ‘From your Valentine,’ an expression that is still in use today.
While some believe that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine’s death or burial — which probably occurred around 270 A.D.
This holiday is more known more about sacrifice than love, but then who says love isn’t a sacrifice after all.
Inevitably always remember to love someone 365 days a year, not just on a particular day called Saint Valentine’s Day, show your love when least expected, not when society tells us too.

However she also wanted to turn it into an income and wanted to know what the likelihood of earning a living from her site would be. Was it a realistic idea? I was honest with her, and let her know the truth about my particular situation…. the most money I had ever earned all at once online was way back when alladvantage.com was paying us all to surf the internet. I’m pretty sure I still have a photo of my $55.00 check!
Now I don’t have the expertise to build a profitable website, or I’m pretty sure I’d have done it already! But I’m also pretty sure that with the number of readers TheHappySelf.com has there MUST be a vast amount of knowledge concerning the subject; my question to you all is this…
Would you be interested in participating in an internet marketing experiment?
1. I will setup an email specifically for this project, where you the readers can send your ideas, and feedback regarding the project.
2. I will keep a diary, of exactly what changes, what promotional tools, what links were built etc, as well as who contributed each particular idea or effort.
3. I will post ALL changes made, and show you exactly what differences have taken place in both revenue, and traffic.
4. You the readers will have a say in all promotional methods used.
5. At the end of the project we will all know exactly what works, and what changes should be implimented into each of our sites, as well as what to stay away from.
If this is something you would like to see undertaken, and would like to be a part of email me with your opinion at netproject@thehappyself.com
Stay tuned for the results!

The power of attraction, positive attracts positive, negative attracts negative.
Each day, as we awake there is a moment when we can choose (albeit subtly), how our day will progress. It begins with those first waking thoughts. It’s in these moments when you get to choose to either pull positive energies toward yourself or negative ones. Start your day off negative and it snowballs into a day of events that just doesn’t seem to go right.
Have you ever started the day off by something as small as stubbing your toe?
And then swearing because it hurt so badly, and then not fifteen minutes later you spill your coffee down your freshly pressed shirt… This of course is almost certainly the day there will be an accident on the way to work causing you to be late! Bad just naturally seems to lead to bad, and good to good!
So why not try to wake up each and every day, projecting happy thoughts and you will attract positivity into your life.
Try starting tomorrow off a little differently, and see where the day takes you.
Here are a few things to get you started!
- Shovel your neighbor’s walk (works best in winter)
- Pick up the tab for the person behind you in the Tim Horton’s drive-thru
I personally love this one, had someone do it to me, and it made my entire week. I now do it for people all the time, and still get a thrill out of it… all for the price of a cup of coffee!
- Bring coffee for a co-worker
- Compliment a stranger
- Let someone merge ahead of you
- Send off a few good morning emails before heading into work
And the list goes on and on, limited only by your imagination.
Ps. I did something this morning, not sure if you noticed but I smiled at you!
TheHappySelf.com website now has a smiley face icon in your explorer bar! This will make it easier to find in all those bookmarks you all have!
I hope you all have a really great day!
